CSVPiG feature request - Custom Post Type and Taxonomy support
I'm using CSVPiG to import data for a site that is quite complex and has many different custom post types in addition to custom taxonomy. As it stands I'm running queries against the WP database post-import to move data and terms to the appropriate post type and taxonomy. It works, but it's time consuming and error prone.
It would be amazing if I could select a custom post type and custom taxonomy for a given post template.

Hi Kirk,
The idea sounds very interesting. I suppose both custom post types and taxonomy would be added to the template as it allows greater flexibility than to e.g. put the post type selection into the "Publish" section (like "Post Status")?
How exactly would you like the custom taxonomy to work? Detect existing taxonomy types and allow assigning tokens to them? Or would you need it to create custom taxonomy types as well?
Let me know what you think :)
Take care,
Alex

Yes, exactly. The import template is unique to each type of data, so that's
the most logical place to put the post type selection box.

No need to create new taxonomy types. Those are already created in advance.
I just need to be able to select a taxonomy that the terms from a given
token should be added to.
As it is now, I have a query that I run to move all regular posts and
categories to a temporary post and taxonomy types. Then I do the import,
convert the imported posts and categories to the desired post and taxonomy
type, then run another query to convert the regular posts and categories
back to their original types. It's workable, but it's a manual process and
one small error throws everything out of whack.

Hi Kirk,
OK, I think there'll be no problems with it. It won't make it to the next release (2.3) as we've got that scheduled for tomorrow, but I'll try to implement it as soon as possible and include it into the following minor release (2.3.1 most probably).
Thanks for the suggestions :)
Take care,
Alex
