CSVPiG – WordPress CSV Importer

The next plugin to go GPL is CSVPiG, our WordPress Mass CVS Import tool.

CSVPiG is a bulk import plugin for WordPress.

CSVPiG has been designed to allow fast and flexible import of multiple posts from a CSV file directly into your blog. You can either upload a CSV file using the UI on the admin page, or you can process an already uploaded file on the server. You can even process multiple uploaded files sequentially.

Also, if you don’t want your posts published right away, CSVPiG can be configured to do just that. It will hold all your posts in the database, thus allowing you to further process the post data or simply feed it to some other plugin. It’s up to you.

I suppose I don’t have to tell you how much time this plugin will save you. It’s not only that you can prepare your posts and put them in a single file to be processed. CSVPiG completely bypasses the UI – there’s no copy/paste involved and no clicking the `Publish` button for every single post. One click and your articles will be taken care of automatically.

Creating you own CSV files is easy in any spreadsheet program like Excel or better still why not download one of the thousands of product data feeds from the affiliate sites and import the entire list including affilaiate links directly into your new blog.

By using CSVPiG to mass import your posts you will:

  • Drastically increase your posting speed
  • Eliminate errors in the posting process
  • Feed data to other plugins
  • Create instant online stores with your affiliate links

CSVPiG has a comprehensive PDF user manual detailing every aspect of it’s setup, configuration and installation.

You can download CSVPiG immediately here…

The plugin does not have a valid header.
This one doesn’t work either. And Captcha still sucks.

How do I make it post under a subcategory?

Hi Trish, I’m doing some testing right now to see how easy it is going to be to add nested child categories to the plugin. If you’re a subscriber to the blog you’ll be notified immediately when a new version with this functionality is released.

Hi again Trish, I’ve just spoken to my developer and it seems he has already secretly built-in the nested categories feature to CSVPiG and not told me! :)

You should be able to add as many categories as you want by separating them with commas e.g:

Entering ‘products, wordpress plugins, csvpig’ into the category field of the CSV file would result in the post appearing in all 3 categories
Entering ‘csvpig’ would result in the post appearing just in the child category

As always don’t hesitate to ask if you want any new features added.

    Hi!
I’ve had problems installing the plugin.
whenever I try to add the api key I get the following error
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: scandir() in /html/wp-content/plugins/wp-csv-pig/csvpig_main.php on line 349

    Thanks for help
    (have wordpress 2.8.4)

Initially I’d suggest deleting the plugin files and uploading the latest version of CSVPiG to see if that works. If not then start a topic in the support community and we’ll get you up and running asap.

Does this have url cloaking, WYSIWYG editor for styling content and ability to create 3 levels of categories like other plugins?

Whats attracting me to your plugin is the whole range and service. Looks good I just don't think it does much by sounds of it plus the plugins that people are talking about helping them make money cost themselves.

Surely your not creating a plugin as good but giving it away free or will this suit smaller projects with the more common needs?

Hi Zara, no URL cloaking in this plugin currently, we plan to release another that would do this in future.

There is also no WYSIWYG editor as the post content is defined by the HTML in the content field of the CSV.

The ability to add child categories will be added to the next release.

You're right the functionality of CSVPiG is limited somewhat, it is a free plugin after all. I'll take a look at some of the other plugins you mention and perhaps see if we can add any of the features they use.

I forgot to say I was talking about ImportCSV and CSV 2 POST and also WordPress DataFeed Importer. Right now I'm liking CSV 2 pOSt because it has a WYSIWYG editor but its so hard to make a decision when your spending money lol

Is this plugin better than CSV 2 POST. Does it do more than it?

I'll take a look at the software you mention and see if we can add any more features.

When I add the plugin via the WordPress dashboard, as soon as I activate it I get the error message: “The plugin does not have a valid header”.

That's the main reason why I use it at work sometimes. It's not so easily editable.

Captcha is off now Jim. You can get your API key from the members’ area and simply paste it into the field inside the plugin admin page
